DC’s cover artist discusses Adam West, his love of the show — and the future of the comics series.

UPDATED 4/17: DC Comics has announced what appears to be the finale (for now) of the Batman ’66 comics series – Batman ’66 Meets the Legion of Super-Heroes. You can read all about it here, here and here. (Yeah, we’re a little excited.) The issue will be produced by brothers Lee and Mike Allred, with colors by Mike’s wife, Laura. These are the folks who produced the regular series finale, Batman ’66 #30, which stands as the best issue of the entire run.
So it’s a good time to check out this Batcave Podcast episode with Mike Allred in which we talk about all things Batman ’66 – from the screen to the page, from the ‘60s to today — with host John S. Drew. We had a great time so give it a listen if you missed it the first time around. Or dig it again!

The Batcave Podcast is back with another special episode: Mike Allred, a 13th Dimension favorite, is a guest and he joins host John S. Drew and me for an in-depth talk about Batman ’66 — the show, his favorites and the comic.
Like the rest of us ’66 fans, Mike comes by his love honestly, through rapt viewings on syndicated TV as a kid. Unlike most of us, however, he went on to become not only one of the most interesting artists in comics, but the primary cover artist of DC’s Batman ’66.
The main monthly title wrapped recently with an Allred family affair: Print Issue #30 was written by Mike and his brother Lee, with art by Mike and go-go colors by Mike’s wife Laura. It was the highlight of the entire series.
But Mike’s not done. He’s not only doing covers for the Batman ’66 Meets the Man From UNCLE miniseries that’s still going on, he’s doing them for the announced-but-not-yet-solicited Batman ’66 Meets Steed and Peel project.
