All week, we’ll be presenting daily tributes and features, leading up to Jan. 12 — the premiere date itself — when we’ll roll out a brand-new TOP 13 BATMAN ’66 EPISODE COUNTDOWN, voted upon by a panel of the most knowledgeable Bat-experts around. Click here for the COMPLETE INDEX. — Dan — Since the Adam West Batman TV show ended in 1968, the series’ DNA has survived in animation, starting with Filmation’s The Adventures of Batman that same year, through the production company’s 1977 version, Hanna-Barbera’s Super Friends, and all the way to Warner Bros.’ Batman: The Brave and the Bold and the studio’s two cartoon movies based directly on the program — Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs. Two-Face. We even got a comics series out of the deal: DC’s Batman ’66, by writer Jeff Parker (mostly), a series of artists and with grand covers by Mike Allred. But you know what’s never happened? An ongoing animated series based on the universe devised by William Dozier. Dang, how cool would that be?
