Showcase #4 Facsimile Edition, DC. July marks the 70th anniversary of this landmark issue, which simultaneously gave us the Barry Allen Flash and the birth of the Silver Age. Comes in the typical standard, logo sketch, and foil cover flavors.

I have to say this would have looked better with an orange background.
—
Back Issue Annual #1, TwoMorrows. BI’s first-ever Annual is a 100-page Best of Neal Adams issue, with tons of art and vintage interviews and features from the mag’s history. We’ve been giving this a lot of coverage, so if you wanna see inside, click here, here, and here.

—
The Amazing Spider-Man #1 Pocket Book Facsimile Edition, Clover Press/Marvel. And, yes, the second one will be released too.

—
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #53, DC. The finale of the Skartaris arc, which has been even more fun than I expected. Also, can I just say that this version of Robin’s costume is one of the best ever? Mattel pretty much used it lock and stock for its new action figure line, so now it’s on my shelf. Next issue: Baseball! In Hell!

Nightwing #140 Swimsuit Cover, DC. Beefcake Dick by Dan Mora.

Banana Number One #1, Bad Idea. I can’t begin to describe this one-shot, so I’ll let the solicitation info speak for itself. Comes with a bunch of variants, including a glow-in-the-dark number and a cosplay (!) version:

(W) Joshua Dysart (A) Kevin Maguire (CA) Michael Allred
From the team that brought you: UNKNOWN SOLDIER! MAXWELL LORD! SPIDER-GWEN! AMY RACECAR! MADMAN! Eisner-nominated writer Joshua Dysart (UNKNOWN SOLDIER), legendary illustrator Kevin Maguire (JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL), superstar colorist Rico Renzi (EDGE OF SPIDERVERSE), Eisner Award-winning artist David Lapham (STRAY BULLETS) and comics icon Michael Allred (MADMAN) would like to introduce you to, perhaps, their ultimate creation – BANANA NUMBER ONE! INTO THE FUNDAMENT ZONE! Brace yourself for the startling story of a genetically mysterious, seven-foot-tall sentient banana — raised in secret, turned race car driver, turned sex symbol, turned global celebrity, and ultimately turned revolutionary icon — caught between human civilization, fruit rebellion, and the coming war between the two.

The Silver Surfer #5 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. Winner of the 1969 Alley Award for Best Full-Length Story! By Stan Lee, John Buscema and Sal Buscema, behind a John Romita cover.

—
Avengers: Armageddon #2 and Captain America #13, Marvel. Two more Alex Ross Marvel Dimensions covers.

By the way, among the Cap covers, there are these two if you’re in a patriotic mood. The first is the Hidden Gem variant by John Romita, lifted from Marvel’s 1976 Bicentennial Calendar. The second is Roge Antonio’s take.

—
Punisher vs. the Amazing Spider-Man #1, Marvel. This Dave Johnson variant is not the first time Marvel has riffed on the classic Amazing Spider-Man #129 cover recently. We also had the Black Cat homage cover and the Facsimile Edition in blue foil.

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension
Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus, DC. Roger Stern and Jerry Ordway reintroduce Brainiac for the post-Crisis era. Set immediately before Superman: The Triangle Era Omnibus Vol. 1.

—
Planetary Compendium, DC. A brilliant mix of pulp and postmodern science fiction, Planetary deserved a much bigger audience than it received. Written by Warren Ellis and drawn by the late, great John Cassaday.

—
Conan the Adventurer: The Original Comics Omnibus Vol. 1, Titan. Tales of a young Conan from Roy Thomas and Rafael Kayanan, collected for the first time!
