A few thoughts:
— There will also be a 2010s variant cover by Jim Lee and Scott Williams, and a blank variant cover.
— DC pioneered this particular anniversary format with Action Comics #1000 in 2018 (click here) and followed up with Detective Comics #1000 (click here), Wonder Woman #750 (click here) and the upcoming The Flash #750 (click here). I have no idea what Green Lantern’s legacy issue number would be and there have been so many GL titles over the years that it kind of makes sense to go the 80th Anniversary Super Spectacular route this time.
— Finally! Neal Adams does a decade-tribute variant cover! To this point, he’s only done retailer exclusives.
— I see Denny O’Neil and Mike Grell’s names in the credits. Mayhap they’re collaborating? After all, a hardcover collection of their ’70s stories is also coming in May. (It was originally set for January. Click here.)
— Aaaand, speaking of O’Neil and Adams, there will be a Green Lantern #76 Facsimile Edition coming in May, as well. Click here for the EXCLUSIVE lowdown.
— By the way, there will be more Green Lantern anniversary news, so check back at this post later Friday. (UPDATED: Here it is — DC in June will be publishing Green Lantern: 80 Years of the Emerald Knight, a 400-page commemorative hardcover featuring some of the best GL stories of all time. It lists for $29.99.)
— Naturally, Hal Jordan and the GL Corps members will dominate the Super Spectacular but the timing is down to the original Green Lantern’s May 1940 debut. Alan Scott first appeared in All-American Comics #16.
