REVIEW: A special BATCAVE PODCAST discussion of the new Batman ’66 animated film.
I’ve now seen the movie a second time on the big screen and I’ve had a chance to really turn it over in my mind. I tell you, it really holds up — so much so that it hit me without realizing it at first that the movie is actually better than some of the show’s episodes.
The main reason? As always, it comes down to the writing. Co-writers James Tucker and Michael Jelenic, along with director Rick Morales, walk that fine line between homage and parody, originality and tribute. It’s abundantly clear that these people care about Batman ’66 and wanted to deliver something fun and fresh while celebrating something warm and familiar.
And I heartily recommend that anyone who’s on the fence jump in and spend the 90 or so minutes it takes to watch the movie. It’s now available for download.
