REVIEW: A special BATCAVE PODCAST discussion of the new Batman ’66 animated film.
The other day, in my excitement after seeing Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders at New York Comic Con, I posted 13 QUICK THOUGHTS without spoilers. (Click here — it’s fun!)
I’ve now seen the movie a second time on the big screen and I’ve had a chance to really turn it over in my mind. I tell you, it really holds up — so much so that it hit me without realizing it at first that the movie is actually better than some of the show’s episodes.
The main reason? As always, it comes down to the writing. Co-writers James Tucker and Michael Jelenic, along with director Rick Morales, walk that fine line between homage and parody, originality and tribute. It’s abundantly clear that these people care about Batman ’66 and wanted to deliver something fun and fresh while celebrating something warm and familiar.
And I heartily recommend that anyone who’s on the fence jump in and spend the 90 or so minutes it takes to watch the movie. It’s now available for download.
But that’s just scratching the surface. John S. Drew and I go into more detail with a spoiler-light (not spoiler-free) discussion at The Batcave Podcast, which you can listen to here or here.
If you haven’t seen it yet, have a listen because we don’t give away major plot points. And if you have seen it, have a listen and let us know if you agree with our thoughts in the comments below or in whichever social-media thread you found this.
Meanwhile, citizens, make sure you check out what Adam West has to say about the movie by clicking here.
You can check out Burt Ward’s thoughts by clicking here and here.

Oh, and once again, my 13 QUICK THOUGHTS can be found here.

Be sure to post a message when it is available as a free download. I didn’t see a link above, so I assume it is still in the “paid” period.
