Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …
—
Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.
Scooby-Doo Team-Up #19, DC. A Zatanna/Scooby-Doo team-up? Sold!
—
Vigilante: Southland #1, DC. A new take on DC’s Vigilante, with art by my longtime collaborator Elena Casagrande. Very much looking forward to this.
—
Cerebus Cover Art Treasury HC, IDW Publishing. This big deluxe collection of Dave Sim and Gerhard’s cover work has been long in the making. It should be a beautiful book. (Note from Dan: It is. Click here for a preview.)
—
Art Of Atari HC, Dynamite. Nobody had better package art than the Atari of the 1970s. For old 8-bit guys like me, this book is a dream come true.
—
Doctor Strange: What Is It That Disturbs You Stephen? TPB, Marvel. P. Craig Russell’s landmark Dr. Strange graphic novel, finally back in print!
—
Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension
Flash #9, DC. I’ve been hot and cold on Rebirth Flash. The characterizations are fine but I am really weary of speedster vs. speedster conflict. Too many speedsters spoil what makes the Flash special, y’know? That said, I am really looking forward to this issue when the Wallys West finally meet. By Joshua Williamson, artist Jorge Corona and colorist Ivan Plascencia. (For a preview, click here.)
—
Teen Titans #1, DC. The new series begins in earnest. The Rebirth issue was all set-up, so now we get story — and Damian’s in charge. By Ben Percy, colorist Jim Charalampidis and the already-departing artist Jonboy Meyers.
—
Titans #4, DC. The other Titans book is out this week too. I’ve dug Dan Abnett’s work on the Titans. He has a good feel for Dick, Donna, Roy, et al, picking up relationship threads that go back decades. One of my favorite DC books right now.
—
Goodnight Batcave, DC/Mad. Writer Dave Croatto and artist Tom Richmond riff on the children’s bedtime classic Goodnight Moon. Are you listening, Eisner??
—
Silver Surfer #7, Marvel. Norrin and Dawn are zipping around the spaceways once again and it looks fun as hell. By Dan Slott and the Allreds. (Click here for a preview.)
