A rainbow of grooviness…
Bright colors make me happy. Artists who use bright colors make me happy. Artists who can draw classic characters with a timeless technique make me happy.
All of which is a long-winded way of saying that the work of veteran illustrator and colorist Glenn Whitmore makes me happy.
Glenn’s career stretches back to the ’80s and he’s well known for his work on The Flash, Justice Society of America and The Power of Shazam! He also worked on the Superman titles while at DC and was notably the behind-the-scenes inspiration of the “Electric Superman Red and Blue” storyline. He’s also worked with Steve Rude, is a regular at Back Issue magazine and is the creator of Captain Clockwork. These days, he’s probably best known for his substantial body of work at Archie Comics.
So dig these 13 WONDERFULLY COLORFUL CLASSIC SUPERHERO PORTRAITS. And if you’re in a buying mood, Glenn is represented by Catskill Comics — both hand coloring and drawing commissions. (UPDATED: Also, go check out our gallery of Glenn’s Justice Society homages. They’re fab!)
Right on.
