Dig Liam Sharp’s Groovy Silver Age GREEN LANTERN Tribute Cover

Shades of Gil Kane…

The beauty of Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp’s The Green Lantern is that it plays with all of the character’s tropes from across the decades. This is a typical Morrison approach but Sharp is one of those artists who is able to contribute substantially to and execute that vision.

We saw it last year with The Green Lantern #8’s homage to Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams’ landmark Green Lantern/Green Arrow run from the early ’70s, for example. (Click here for much more on that.)

Well, Morrison and Sharp have gone back to the well with The Green Lantern: Season Two #9, whose cover wonderfully apes a typical Silver Age set-up.

Dig this issue, which is due in shops Nov. 10 and 11:

I mean, I can’t believe Julius Schwartz, John Broome and Gil Kane didn’t come up with this themselves.

And hey, Chris Burnham’s bright variant cover is nothing to sneeze at either:

Nice to see some of DC’s historical DNA is alive and well.
