Dig BATMAN ’89 Artist JOE QUINONES’ BATGIRL

Barbara Gordon looks sharp…

Hey, we’re getting ever-closer to DC’s Batman ’89 and Superman ’78 comics coming this summer, so it’s fun to check in on the artists’ Twitter feeds for clues of what to expect and whatnot.

Superman ’78 artist Wilfredo Torres seems to be keeping things close to the vest right now on the platform, but check out this recent post by Batman ’89 artist Joe Quinones:

Oh, how do I love this. And I really dig that auburn bob.

Now, right off I have to say I have zero idea whether this Batgirl design is for the book, though there are clues: The outfit adheres to the style of the Burton Batsuits in two key areas — the Batman Returns-style armored leggings and, more importantly, the cowl’s bat-like yoke, which sits atop the cape.

She’s also clad in the Burton Batman’s black-and-gold color scheme, though we’ve seen a similar version of this outfit before:

… and he’s posted this Batman ’89-inspired outfit in the past:

So who knows?

It’s fun to speculate — but we’ll find out soon enough.
