Well, looky here: DC last month announced the Detective Comics #27 Facsimile Edition — a full reprint of Batman’s 1939 first appearance, including ads, back-up features and whatnot.
Now, coming hot on those Bat-heels, is the granddaddy of them all — the Action Comics #1 Facsimile Edition, due this fall.

A few thoughts:
— Last month, I wondered whether Detective Comics #27’s release heralded the revival of DC’s Facsimile Edition program. Time will tell whether this will continue, but this is a good sign, especially if it sells.
— As with Detective Comics #27, I believe this is the first, full-on reprint of Action #1 since the Famous 1st Edition tabloid in the ’70s. If there’s one next month, whattya think? Wonder Woman’s first appearance in All-Star Comics #8? Sensation Comics #1? Wonder Woman #1? Who knows?
— Standard Price Comparison: If you’re a multimillionaire, you can try to get your hands on a 1938 original. The Facsimile Edition is 7 clams. What a bargain!

Action Comics #1 was reprinted as a Millennium Edition but it was complete as it it didn’t include the front cover, without Millennium Edition trade dress, inside front, or inside back cover or back cover. S, this is great news! I’d love to see a Who’s Comics #2!

Both Action #1 and Detective #27 were printed in tabloid format back in the 70s. I heard that some guy removed the cardboard cover from Action and sold it to someone for big bucks as it was an exact duplicate of the original except for the size difference.

To this day there is a warning in Overstreet about this on each of the issues that had a “Famous First Edition”.

Besides the Famous First Edition, Action #1 was re-issued in its entirety twice:
1) The U.S. Postal Service issued a shrink-wrapped facsimile, with an extra half-cover, in 1998 as a tie-in with the Superman stamp that was issued as part of their Celebrate The Century series of postage stamps (1998-2000). The extra half-cover had the stamp with a First Day of Issue cancellation.
2) Loot Crate issued a facsimile reprint in 2017.
