One of comics’ greatest artists was born 93 years ago…

OK, OK. I’m well aware that the late Steve Ditko — born Nov. 2, 1927 — did much more than Spider-Man during his illustrious career. Acutely aware.

But I still can’t resist going all-Spidey for his annual birthday salute, because the wall-crawler is easily my fave Marvel character and he’s enough for anyone to hang a career on.

Rather than go back to the traditional 13 COVERS well, however, this year we’re going with 13 SPLASH PAGES — all first pages from Ditko’s landmark run.
