Williams has died at the age of 82.
Williams was born Feb. 27, 1934 and died a week ago, Nov. 28, though the announcement didn’t come until today. He was, of course, best known for starring in William Dozier’s The Green Hornet, the somewhat more serious sister program of Batman. Variety has an obituary here.
Williams was beloved by fans of the show, though I never saw it growing up. It was not in syndication in the New York area in the ’70s, or if it was, it was at a time I wasn’t aware of. But I saw Williams as the Green Hornet repeatedly on one of the most popular Batman episodes, the second-season pairing, A Piece of the Action/Batman’s Satisfaction.
Awhile back, we celebrated GREEN HORNET WEEK. Three of those links are below, as well as a look at the Batman’66 episode and a new 13 COVERS salute.
