TV SEASON’S GREETINGS: Animation Holiday Cards From Christmas Past

Currier and Ives could do no better…

Even if we live in a cyberworld, it’s still nice to get a bona fide Christmas card. And in ye olden times it was especially cool to get them not just from friends and family but, if you were so lucky, from those who brought you great entertainment throughout the year.

Comics companies and animation studios, for example, could be counted on to produce holiday greetings for those in the biz, or connected to it.

Well, it being the Christmas season, we decided it’d be a kick to show off some retro cards from various cartoon studios — such as 13th Dimension fave Filmation — courtesy of writer and historian Andy Mangels in this EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT from TwoMorrows’ RetroFan #12, out this week.

The issue has a bunch of Christmas stories (natch) but also the usual complement of groovy and far out general-interest pieces.
