The TOP 13 GEORGE PEREZ Countdown: #10 — FUTURE IMPERFECT

Perez Hulks out…

Comics great George Perez announced his retirement this month (click here) and we’re celebrating his illustrious career across 13 days with the TOP 13 GEORGE PEREZ COUNTDOWN — ranking his best work going back to his professional beginnings in the 1970s. I’m personally most familiar with Perez’s DC output, so I’ve enlisted 13th Dimension contributor Anthony Durso to make the daily picks. (He also made that fancy banner.) Get your arguments ready, folks! — Dan

Pick #11 was Firestorm. (Click here.) Next up on the countdown:

10. THE INCREDIBLE HULK: FUTURE IMPERFECT

Peter David and George Perez teamed up for a take on an evil, alternate-future Hulk, known as the Maestro, in this 1992-’93 two-issue miniseries. Unusual in a time when Perez seemed more at home with big casts of characters battling for the existence of a universe, Future Imperfect is a nice change of pace. Perez still manages to fill the book with lots of detail, including the stash of artifacts and weapons of fallen heroes and villains that the Maestro keeps in his lair. — Anthony Durso.

Anthony Durso is the owner of Retropolis Tees and the custom toy-package website The Toyroom.
