The famed Stewart Berkowitz collection is up for sale…

A number of years ago, I had the pleasure of spending time with Dr. Stewart Berkowitz, one of the world’s foremost collectors of television memorabilia, in particular Batman ’66. I did a whole series of stories showcasing his fascinating assemblage of original costumes and props, not to mention his full-scale replicas of the show’s vehicles.
Stewart died last year at the too-young age of 64 and now his museum-quality items are going up for sale through Heritage Auctions.

The thing about Stewart is that he was much more than a Batman fan. His foremost love was The Honeymooners — notice how the catalogue cover above cleverly combines the two shows — and he also dabbled in mid-century programs like Star Trek, Get Smart, Gilligan’s Island, I Dream of Jeannie and many more. There are over 320 lots in the Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Auction — scheduled for Oct. 24 — and by all means you should check them out.
I’ve done a deep dive myself and have come up with my faves — 13 GROOVY LOTS FROM THE GREATEST BATMAN ’66 AUCTION YOU’LL EVER SEE. (There are many more than 13 Bat-lots but this is our schtick, so…)

“Mind…blown…Robin…”
September 30, 2025
Didn’t these Batman and Robin costumes come up for auction before, or was that from another collector?
October 1, 2025
Not these, no. Stewart had these for a long time. There are others out there.

Wow what a collection. My head’s spinning just scrolling through that. I’d be exhausting every “Holy !” in the Robin dictionary if I saw this in person. RIP to the owner of this collection.
