Sketching My Way Through NEW YORK COMIC CON

FRANCO’s FREE-FOR-ALL FRIDAYS!

By FRANCO

New York Comic Con aftermath…

I’d have to say, the overall state is… tired. This one is a big show!! The sheer amount of people (by the con estimate, about 200,000). That’s a lot of humanity.

There are so many people coming and going by the table that it’s a constant state of talking and signing and drawing.

Which would go a bit to explain why I never see anything. I’m often asked things after the fact like; “Hey, I saw Nicolas Cage was there, did you get to meet him?”

Franco, with Nicolas Aureliani

My response would be, “He was there? Wow!” Unless I make a conscious effort to find out beforehand who might be there, I don’t get past my table in Artist Alley much, unless I’m heading somewhere else to do a promotional signing for one of my books.

I do commissions, but I’m very bad at taking pictures of said artworks. Between doing them, concentrating and talking to fans at the same time, I often remember after they walk away that I should have snapped a pic.

Here’s some of what I created for fans at the show. A couple of these were supplied after I mentioned online that I forget to take pics, and these folks were gracious enough to send them to me:
