HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

The Flash #123 Facsimile Edition, DC. The classic issue that launched the DC Multiverse gets the full-on reprint treatment – ads and all. Neato. (Click here for an INSIDE LOOK.)

Detective Comics #1020, DC. Two-Face is back – and Peter Tomasi, Brad Walker and Andrew Hennessy have him right where they want him: causing trouble two times over.

Wolverine by Claremont and Buscema #1 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. The first issue of Logan’s first ongoing also gets the full-on reprint treatment – ads and all. Rad. (Click here for the full rundown.)

DC Cover Girls Batgirl by Frank Cho statue, DC. Hey did you hear that DC Collectibles is changing its name back to DC Direct? It’s true. Anyway, Frank Cho’s version of classic Batgirl – I miss that costume! – is really groovy. Dig the Bat-magnifying glass! She stands about 9 inches tall and lists for $130.

Godzilla 1962 Vinimate, Diamond Select. Haven’t written about Vinimates in awhile, but check out the latest – Godzilla circa 1962. Nice, nice, nice. There are also Burning Godzilla and Rodan Vinimates this week too. About 4 inches tall, for $10 a pop!

2001: A Space Odyssey MAFEX action figure, Medicom. A green-helmeted version of Dave Bowman – who had no f*cks left to give when he shut HAL’s ass down. $89.99 for this 6-inch-scale bad boy. Medicom should make a Monolith action figure, don’t you think?

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Crisis on Infinite Earths Giant #2, DC Comics. Loving the resurgence of Crisis stuff in the air thanks to The CW.

Excalibur Epic Collection: Curiouser and Curiouser, Marvel. I believe this wraps up the Alan Davis Excalibur run, which I always enjoyed just because it was so weird compared to the rest of the X-Books.

The Flash of Two Worlds Deluxe Edition HC, DC Comics. Track the history of DC’s multiple Earths through the first meetings of Flashes Barry Allen and Jay Garrick! Classic Silver Age Earth-jumping fun. (Same day as The Flash #123 Facsimile Edition!)

  1. That “Detective Comics” cover is pretty scary. And do I detect a Coppertone reference with that Batgirl statue?

  2. I’d argue the classic Batgirl costume is the black with side bag first appearance design. The all grey is closer to the day of Dollar Comics and the Family titles.
