HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Nightwing #52, DC. All kidding aside, Dick Ric Grayson’s identity crisis is actually pretty intriguing. By Scott Lobdell, Fabian Nicieza, Chris Mooneyham and crew.

James Bond 007 #1, Dynamite. I have come to accept that when it comes to 007, I prefer the film version to the literary one. I know that’s heresy in some parts but there you have it. So, I hold out hope that one day we’ll get a comics adaptation that dives into that cinematic world. In the meantime, I’m down to check out Dynamite’s new ongoing that kicks off with Bond’s showdown with … Odd Job! Greg Pak and Mark Laming are first-rate talents and I’m always good for a Bond story that takes him to Asia.

Batman #58, DC. We really haven’t seen enough of the Penguin the last several years, so I’m down with seeing him get the spotlight in the latest from Tom King, Mikel Janin, Jordie Bellaire and co.

Iceman #3, Marvel. Featuring Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends! Thank you, Sina Grace and Nathan Stockman!

Back Issue #109, TwoMorrows. Dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of Superman: The Movie. And it’s fantastic. (Click here for an EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW.)

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Crisis on Infinite Earths Companion Deluxe Edition Vol. 1 HC, DC Comics. Sure, I have all of these in a box somewhere. But I’m such a Crisis fan, I gotta have ’em all under one cover.

Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy HC, Chronicle Books. Here’s one I’ve been looking forward to for a while: a retrospective of the women in the Star Wars universe, by journalist and fan-beyond-compare Amy Ratcliffe.

The Green Lantern #1, DC Comics. A Grant Morrison-written GL book, eh? If nothing else, I’m curious. Line art by Liam Sharp. (Dan concurs.)

Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor #1, Titan. I can’t pass up a new Doctor Who book by Jody Houser and my Star Trek/Planet of the Apes pal Rachael Stott (with Enrica Angiolini).
