Groovy MARSHALL ROGERS BATMAN Original Comic Strip Art Up for Auction

Reprint these stories already!

I’ve long been banging on that DC (or anybody) should reprint Max Allan Collins and Marshall Rogers’ Batman newspaper strip, which was launched in the wake of the 1989 movie.

So, it’s always a treat to find original art from the strip up for auction. Dig this piece, available soon from Heritage, along with the official description:

Marshall Rogers Batman Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-2-89 (Creators Syndicate, 1989). A three panel strip with Batman and Catwoman taking their own “war on drugs” which was a popular theme in the 1980s due Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” campaign and President Ronald Reagan who reinforced expanded many of Nixon’s War on Drugs policies. Ink over graphite with Zipatone shading on Bristol board with an image area of 12″ x 3.5″. There is light toning and edge wear. All text are paste-ups and the text in the last panel are taped to the art. Marshall’s signature is a stat and the board is signed to the left of the image. In Excellent condition.

Bidding is expected to begin about March 15. The piece is part of the Heritage’s April 4-7 Comics & Comic Art Auction. Click here to follow along.

  1. I’d put my cash down in a heartbeat to order an omnibus of this material. If only DC would make it so. I can’t imagine how high this auction will go.
