Dig This UP-CLOSE LOOK at an Original 1966 BATCAVE SCANNER

EXCLUSIVE: Important equipment in the war against dastardly crime!

Some months ago, we took you inside the most remarkable private cache of Batman ’66 memorabilia you’ll ever see — a trove of original, screen-used costumes and props owned by an anonymous collector dubbed “Alfred”:

This doesn’t even include the Joker and the Penguin.

It’s phenomenal stuff and you can click here for a series of photo galleries featuring gear worn by Adam West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig and the biggest of the show’s villains, not to mention an UP-CLOSE LOOK at the Penguin Sub from the 1966 movie (click here).

Well, Alfred’s back in business with a new acquisition — the original Batcave scanner:

In some respects, the prop — which used to be emblazoned with labels such as “TERRESTRIAL SCANNER” and “LUNAR SCANNER SCREEN” — is even more recognizable than the Batcomputer itself.

So just dig these photos from Alfred’s secret New Jersey lair — as well as a couple of screen grabs for context:

Neat, huh?

I’d say so.

  1. Interesting.

ABC canceled the series in 1968. NBC was ready to pick up the show but the sets had already been destroyed. Obviously some significant props managed to survive.

I can’t help thinking that NBC could have moved Batman from stately Wayne Manor into a downtown Gotham penthouse just like Bruce had done in the comics in December 1969. Want to save even more money? Ship Dick off to college.

Great acquisition, though. Holy hoarder, Alfred!

  2. Does anyone find it interesting there is an ash tray in that last pic?

    • For when Penguin is being interrogated, obviously! 😉

      That’s a good catch. I missed that. Hmmm…
