Dig the Blueprints of Comics’ Groovy New BATMOBILE

A cross between two different versions of The Batman…

I’ll never say the Batmobile makes the Batman — but it certainly helps!

Batfans have been fetishizing the Caped Crusader’s wheels forever. Some have been iconic (standard Golden Age I and II, 1966 TV, 1989 movie, for example) and others have been better left forgotten (and usually have been).

But a good Batmobile really enhances the Bat-mystique and I gotta say I really dig the new one in the just-launched Batman series by Matt Fraction, Jorge Jimenez and Tomeu Morey.

Check out this Jimenez variant cover for November’s Issue #3, which features the blueprints for the latest Bat-whip:

Intentional or not, it’s highly reminiscent of the Batmobile used by Robert Pattinson’s Masked Manhunter in 2022’s The Batman…

I could watch that scene on an endless loop.

The new Batmobile, with its electric blue accents, also echoes an earlier iteration of The Batman — the underrated 2004 cartoon:

And when I see a Batmobile like this, my mind also goes back to Neal Adams’ version.

Now, I just have to hope that Hot Wheels, Jada or even Corgi gets in on this action.

  1. I mourn the fact that Eaglemoss discontinued Batman Automobilia. I LOVED that line. Previews coming out with the newest cars every month was my highlight. I collected all 80 cars. Even when I was unemployed I made sure I was able to scrape the coins together to pay for the latest installments. I dreamed of that collection since I was four.

  2. Maybe Eaglemoss could put out another diorama/magazine combo of this Batmobile?

  3. How do the wheels turn with those big metal bat emblems outside the rims?
