Batman, Robin … and the Batmobile!
Neal Adams’ permanent art gallery at his Midtown Manhattan studio is now complete and we’re giving you an EXCLUSIVE inside look with 13 DAYS OF THE NEAL ADAMS GALLERY.
Each day, we’re highlighting one of the pieces of art that adorns the walls of the gallery, complete with Neal’s EXCLUSIVE commentary. You’ll see a diverse selection of pages and covers featuring the characters for which Adams is best known.
The gallery, which is open to the public, is located at 15 W. 39th Street. Admission is free but you have to call first before you come over (212-869-4170). For tons more info on the gallery and what you can see — and buy — there, click here.

In this one, we venture back to Gotham — more specifically, Batman: Odyssey #1.
I like this page in particular because it captures the old Batman and Robin derring-do spirit in slick, modern glory:

Here’s Adams’ EXCLUSIVE commentary:
“There is so much interesting in this page. First, I suspect a real Batman would want to be able to drive through the city in a car that would not attract massive attention but simply look cool and yet be a submersible, turbo-prop, flying, driving, incredible fantastic sports car. Maybe I’m just saying what I would do if I were Batman. It has three sets of headlights and while it is not a Lamborghini, and the canopy doesn’t work the same way as a Lamborghini, personally I think this design works better. Given the gymnastics skills of both Bats and Robin, mounting the car from the rear is the perfect choice. Can you imagine seeing this in a film… in slow motion even? YES!”
