Now you too can look like Batman’s greatest love — or greatest foe…
Well, this is funky.
DC on Wednesday announced that it would be releasing a series of Joker and Catwoman masks to celebrate their 80th anniversaries in April.
The eight cardboard masks — similar to the Batman masks released a couple of years ago — were designed by artist Ryan Sook, who did an extraordinary job of aping the styles of other artists through the decades.
First up will be the Catwoman masks, which will arrive in shops the same day as the Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1 on April 15. (Click here for much more on that.)
Then, two weeks later, on April 29, come the Joker masks, which will arrive the same day as The Joker 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1. (Click here for much more on that.)
A few thoughts:
— This is what’s called fun. Each mask’s eyes can be punched out so you can, y’know, see. Or you can leave them as is and admire the pretty. (Or hideous, as the case may be. That Capullo Joker still gives me the heebie-jeebies.)
— Robin in March is getting an 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular too (click here), but it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting masks, since we most likely would have heard by now. (I could be wrong though.) There have been Robin domino masks released in the past.
— How much will they cost? Ask your local shop. Some places give things like these out as freebies. Others charge.
— Which ones will I be sure to grab? Well, all of them. But that Adams Joker and Aparo Catwoman top the list, natch.
