Another take on Issue #1…

DC’s Facsimile Edition run this year of the four issues of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns featured a quartet of Frank Miller variant covers that took a spin on his original four covers from the 1986 series.

The oiriginal cover for Issue #1
Each one is creative and clever and you can check them out through the links below.
In any event, he’s still going, with a DKR variant for September’s Batman #13, and this is just as badass as the others — and more than a little humorous.
Check this out:

I really hope he keeps going with these because each one is artful and compelling in a way that fits the DKR world, yet is completely different.
By the way, DC in September is also publishing a WIP edition of Dark Knight Returns #1, showing off Miller and Klaus Janson’s original art in 11″ x 17″ size.
Batman #13 is due Sept. 2. Miller’s card-stock variant lists for $5.99.

Issue 13 already?
This latest Batman ongoing relaunch just doesn’t tickle my fancy. I’ve tried time and time again to get through issue #1. It’s just more of what Zdarsky was offering and it’s not doing anything for me.
At least we’ll be getting plenty of reprinted Batman classics, as well as’Batman and Robin Dynamic Duos’.

“Batman and Robin Year One Dynamic Duos” is the only new BATMAN I’m reading these days. Well that and “Bat-Man 1/2/* Knight” if it’s a thing.

@Buck –
I’m just glad that Batman and Robin Year One is getting a continuation.
Both the ongoing Batman as well as Detective Comics have been really bad the past decade or more. I was so disappointed with Detective Comics #1000 I really wish I hadn’t been duped into paying $9.99 for a thick comic filled with mediocrity.
On a more positive note, at least we have been fortunate enough to get plenty of DC Finest trades, and finally getting the Bronze Age Batman is honestly a dream come true. In a way I’m actually glad it was pushed to September. I am STRONGLY considering getting two copies on day one. This will give me more time to save.
