As part of TOYHEM!, we’re bringing you a series-within-a-series — the Custom Mego Box of the Day, by 13th Dimension contributor and customizer extraordinaire Anthony Durso.

Custom Mego Box of the Day #7 was inspired by Super Powers Aquaman. Click here.

And, now we bring you Custom Mego Box of the Day #8:

ADMIRAL JAMES T. KIRK (From Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

Says Anthony: This was done recently for the new Mego Corp. figures. The box design follows the early Star Trek (TOS) box design I use but it’s updated for the Wrath of Khan figures. The window trim and transporter effect background color is reminiscent of the background color in Kirk’s cameo circle on the original Mego cards from the ’70s.

Says Dan: Why did I select this one to showcase? 1) The Wrath of Khan is the greatest of all Trek stories. 2) This figure is on my Chanukah list. 3) Star Trek: The Motion Picture came out on this date in 1979. (Somehwat tangential, but hey.) 4) Have you listened to Shatner Claus? It’s the greatest Christmas album ever! And I am NOT kidding!

Anthony Durso is the owner of Retropolis Tees (click here) and The Toyroom toy package customizing company (click here), so make sure you check out his nifty wares.
