THWIP! Literally! Man, I love Mark Chiarello’s Spider-Man covers. Dude gets it. (Then again, the guy gets everything when it comes to comics.) Anyway, there’s a new, four-issue, anthology miniseries starting in January called Marvel SFX: Thwip! that will — believe it or not — celebrate Spidey’s most famous sound effect. It’s a novel idea, to say the least, and there will evidently be other, similar minis down the line. (The smart money is on Marvel SFX: Snikt!) Check out Mark’s variant for Issue #1, coming January 27, 2027. It’s got a distinct black-light poster feel: Right on. — MORE — Dig These Groovy SPIDER-MAN Variant Covers by MARK CHIARELLO. Mining gold from the Silver Age… How do you improve upon Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson’s cover for 1962’s The Flash #133 — one of the most emblematic images of the Silver Age? You don’t. You can’t. But you can still give it a heckuva shot by making the Flash… a GORILLA! Check out Gavin Guidry’s cover for January 27, 2027’s The Flash #41: Now, I really, really, really hope the final version includes the word balloon, “I’ve got the strangest feeling I’m being turned into a gorilla!” What this image has to do with the issue itself, I couldn’t tell you. But I can’t wait to find out. — MORE — RYAN SOOK’s Latest LEX LUTHOR Parody Cover Takes You Back to the Golden Age. Click here. — CLASSIC COVERS RE-IMAGINED: The FLASH Needs to Get a Grip. Click...
