INSANE HEADLINES FROM 1989: BATMAN-CRAZY Hubby Forces His Wife to Dress Like ROBIN

MORRISON MONDAYS! By BILL MORRISON Back in January I wrote about a pin-up illustration of a sexy woman dressed as Robin the Boy Wonder that I did back in 1989. The painting was inspired by some articles from tabloid newspapers about Batman-obsessed men that were merged together to craft a story about one Bat-crazy dude. When I was writing my column, I searched through boxes in my studio to find the original tabloid clippings that I knew I’d saved, but to no avail. Then, by chance, a few weeks later, I found them. I think there must have been a third story that mentioned the dry cleaner and the maid that were in the story that accompanied my pin-up, but that’s lost to time. So, as an addendum to that column of January 19, I thought it would be fun to show the articles, along with the cover of one of the newspapers. In rereading the articles, I rediscovered some very interesting tidbits that didn’t make it into my earlier piece, such as $10,000 Batman movie premiere tickets, and a woman hired to cosplay as Vicki Vale. There was also a lot more sex than I’d remembered, so proceed with caution! — Want more MORRISON MONDAYS? Come back in a few weeks — Bill’s going on a brief hiatus! Want a commission? At Bongo, and later as Executive Editor of Mad Magazine, he parodied the comics images he loved as a kid every chance he got. Not much has changed. The BATMAN ’66 MUSEUM Needs Your Help

The only permanent museum dedicated to the show… Mark Racop’s Fiberglass Freaks Batman Museum — aka the Batman ’66 Museum — in Logansport, Indiana, needs a helping hand with some repair work and has set up a $12,000 gofundme account, if you’re interested. One thing to get clear right off the, well, bat: The museum is not in danger in closing, Mark told me. That said, an anticipated $200,000 grant fell through, leaving the world’s only permanent museum dedicated to the 1966 Batman show, starring Adam West, scrambling for money for necessary renovations. “We are shining the Bat-Signal once again, ardently asking for your help,” the gofundme reads. “The grant we were working towards was to replace our 46 windows. We’ve lost a few over this fall and winter from the fierce winds. … We were just informed this past week that our furnace is not salvageable. They no longer even manufacture the parts for it. Brand new HVAC is on the list because of age and inefficiency. Gas bills are four digits for about a quarter of the year. Two severe storms ago, we lost the gable atop the roof. It is temporarily back in place, but needs (to be) properly restored.” There’s more and you can check out the campaign here. It also has a list of exhibit needs, including murals, statues, screen-used props, and more. (Fiberglass Freaks, by the way, is the only officially licensed manufacturer of full-size, operational 1966 Batmobiles.) “It is a TON to ask for, and we might not get there,” the campaign reads. “But we have to try! Please help us in any way that you can. Even if it’s just sharing our campaign. Your support means more than you know! Thank you so much” One thing to point out in the interest of transparency: The museum, which opened on Halloween in 2024, is not a non-profit. But that doesn’t mean that something that has clearly given so many so much joy in the last 18 months couldn’t use a boost — especially since it’s Batman’s 60th anniversary year. One of the most popular stories in 13th Dimension’s history was Walt Grogan’s account of his road trip with buddy Frank Bonilla to the museum. The headline alone — We Took a Three-Hour Road Trip to the New BATMAN ’66 MUSEUM — and...
