Mike Grell’s seminal miniseries will be remastered for the high-end release… Mike Grell’s landmark 1987 miniseries Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters is set to be released as a high-end Absolute Edition — the first time the story has been presented in the format. Not only that, the book will be remastered from original art. DC has not solicited it yet and it does not appear on any retailer site or in any catalogue. But Alex Galer, the publisher’s collected editions editor posted a note in The Mike Grell Page Facebook group in late May: “Hi all! I am the editor of the upcoming Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters: Absolute Edition at DC Comics. We will be remastering the book, and I was wondering if anyone had original artwork from the landmark series. If so, I would love to showcase it in the book and use the artwork in the remastering. I really appreciate your time and help! “(And any related material you think would be nice to include with the book, I am all for!) “Thank you so much!” And that’s all we know. For now. Included in the latest crowdfunding campaign for the newspaper-strip reprint collection… The other day we noted that Clover Press will make its Facsimile Edition of 1980’s cult-favorite The Amazing Spider-Man #1 mass-market paperback available in comics shops in July. You can read about it over here, but the gist is that the book was produced as part of the publisher’s run reprinting the Spider-Man newspaper strip. Now, as we surmised — not that it took any particular genius — the second paperback in the brief 1980 Pocket Books series will also get a Facsimile Edition. It’s included in Clover Press’ latest Kickstarter, which includes slipcased editions collecting all the strips covering 1981 to 1984, as well as a load of goodies. There’s still plenty of time left in the Kickstarter, but if you’re just interested in The Amazing Spider-Man #2 paperback by Stan Lee and John Romita — featuring Spidey battling the Kingpin and the Rattler — it will likely make it to Clover’s website at some point, and then comics shops after that.
