MARVEL Schedules THREE Facsimile Editions for OCTOBER

EXCLUSIVE! Bronze Age X-Men and Marvel Fanfare, plus Marvel Zombies — and they’re all connected… Marvel in October will offer three Facsimile Editions and all are tied into the company’s new Midnight line launching that month. The Best Way DC Could Revive the Cancelled BLACK CANARY SUPER POWERS Cover

The solution is simple… Earlier this week, we reported that DC Comics cancelled (at least for now) the Black Canary Super Powers variant cover that had been attached to the Justice League of America #200 Facsimile Edition. It made sense because the JLA #200 Facsimile is being presented in treasury size and a Super Powers cover at that scope doesn’t really work. Kinda kills the whole idea of emulating the classic toy packaging, y’know? So, what to do with the cover? These things sell or DC wouldn’t have put out three waves of them, so I expect it’s only a matter of time before it finds a new home. Now, one obvious solution would be to offer it with a series where Black Canary is appearing. Right now, she’s in Detective Comics, for example, though it’s not clear to me how long that will last. But there’s a better solution staring DC right in the face — especially considering that this third wave of Super Powers variants are all for Facsimile Editions: Release a second printing of the just-published Justice League of America #75 Facsimile Edition, featuring Dinah joining the JLA. A) That issue only came out in May — the same month this wave of SP covers began. 2) It’s an even better match than Justice League of America #200. C) It would appeal to all the Super Powers collectors. 4) It would play well with completists, who want all the Facsimile Edition variants (foil, sketch logo, etc). I have absolutely zero inside information on this — I want to stress that — but this is an idea way, way too good to ignore.
