13 PENGUIN COVERS: It’s National Umbrella Day!

Bumbershoots aplenty — thanks to Infantino, Rogers, Breyfogle, Sprang and MORE…

Friday is National Umbrella Day! Who knew? Well, you do now!

So if we’re gonna celebrate — and we are — who best to party with than the Penguin?

Ol’ Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot’s having a bit of a moment right now, with his forthcoming The Batman off-shoot HBO Max show starring Colin Farrell and Mego’s highly anticipated 50th anniversary Super-Foes wave of action figures:

Why is it National Umbrella Day, anyway? According to nationaldaycalendar.com: “While the origins of the utilitarian holiday remain a mystery, the world has been celebrating it since at least 2004. However, another celebration on the calendar promotes opening umbrellas indoors. The entire month of March recognizes the umbrella, too!”

Alrighty then. Dig these 13 PENGUIN COVERS to celebrate Oz’s favorite day — other than World Penguin Day in April:

  1. Batman #190 is one of my favorite covers. A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to commission Joe Giella – the inker on the original cover – to do a re-creation for me. It hangs on my office wall…I’m very lucky to own it.
