Earth-One and Earth-Two crossovers weren’t confined to the Justice League and the Justice Society, y’know…
The year 2025 marks 85 years of the Justice Society of America, comics’ first superteam. The actual anniversary isn’t until November but our pals at the Fire and Water Podcast Network, corralled by Shagg Matthews, are getting a jumpstart with JSApril.
The celebration features dozens of podcasts and websites paying tribute to the Greatest Generation’s super friends, and we’re joining the fun with a whiz-bang 13 COVERS salute.
But not just any 13 COVERS. See, this may sound like heresy, but I’m not a die-hard JSA fan. I dig ’em and all, don’t get me wrong, but I always liked the team and its members better as exotic foils for the Justice League and its crew.
I’ve done plenty of JLA-JSA galleries and whatnot over the years, so for our JSApril contribution, we’re going in a slightly different direction with 13 COVERS featuring individual Earth-One and Earth-Two team-ups. Because those stories could be just as much fun as the annual Crises.
Check out these far-out 13 COVERS — and click here for the full rundown on JSApril.
(And yes, I intentionally left out 1961’s The Flash #123 because, really, how many times can you show it?)

I remember seeing ads for Flash #173 when I got back issues in the early 70s—my introduction to the idea that there was more than one Flash! I read a few of these stories in reprints or new issues in the 70s and 80s and I love all these covers!

Thanks for the JSApril plug! Lots of great podcasts and blogs particpating in this lovefest for the JSA!
I loved it when the Earth-1/Earth-2 heroes mingled. The Brave and the Bold #182 is my single favorite comic of all time!!! But lots of other favorites here too!

Flash No. 129 was one of the first comic books that ever came into my possession as a very young reader. Remember being so intrigued at the JSA flashback panels in that story. Great memories of that sense of awe and wonder which came from that reading experience as a kid.

JSA are the greatest. Fell in love w them as a kid when I read the All Star Treasury edition. So very cool. Followed by their revival in the mid 70s. Hooked for life

What a splendid selection, Dan. That Green Lantern 61 cover made me think of GL 85, with Hal judging Ollie over Roy. I bet you could easily get 13 covers of heroes being judgmental towards one another – Silver Age Superman alone
could supply about 100.
And a very happy JSApril to one and all!
