13 COVERS: A TODD McFARLANE Birthday Celebration

To Infinity Inc. — and Earth-Two…

Funny thing about being a devoted comics fan for most of your waking life: You’re always learning new things, even things you should already know.

For example, for whatever reason, I’ve never really been clued in on Todd McFarlane’s work on DC’s Infinity Inc. in the ’80s; to me, he just showed up fully formed on Batman: Year Two. I was familiar with the Infinity Inc. covers, I just didn’t realize he’s the one who pencilled them, usually with inks by Tony DeZuniga.

Anyway, as it happens, I’ve seen a number of references lately to McFarlane’s Infinity Inc. output. Hell, I saw a Facebook post about it just the other day that only deepened my desire to devote this year’s 13 COVERS birthday salute — McFarlane was born 62 years ago on March 16, 1961 — to that cult-fave title.

  1. All these Todd McFarlane INFINITY, INC. covers were colored by me EXCEPT #30 which featured Full-process (hand-painted) coloring by my late wife, Adrienne Roy.

    • Hey, Anthony! I’m just reading your story in Paul’s book. The history of it is so fantastic. Now, if you can tell me how I can get copies of the pulp books you have published, I’d be extremely happy. I’m a huge Shadow fan.
