DESPOP TUESDAYS!

Last week, after a grueling four-day stint at the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi, I popped down to Dubai to visit the pop culture mecca known as Comicave, situated in the Dubai Outlet Mall on Route 66.
This is the second version of the store, the first being at the front of the mall, containing a full set of Iron Man armour (including the mechanical suit-up machine); a Darth Vader meditation chamber as a checkout; and the Iron Throne from Game Of Thrones as some of the highlights.
This megastore is their new pop-up — which is the size of an Asda or Walmart — before they move into their permanent location next year, boasting a convention hall next door and an Art Deco-style cinema. I was honoured to see the building’s progress… and, yes, my jaw dropped.
Anyway, here are 13 PIX of my favourite statues in the store, from companies like Sideshow, Iron Studios ; I could have filled up my camera… seriously.
If you’re ever in Dubai, go visit. You will not be disappointed.

Three letters. OMG (wait—does that count as one word?).
I absolutely love this place! And that Ghost Spider looks awesome. As if she was ripped right from the comic book page.
Now, that Spider-Man one on the last image: I actually made a little joke out of it like a year ago. Since he was pointing, on an image I added, “I WANT YOU FOR MULTIVERSE ARMY” with “nearest multiverse recruiting station” near the bottom. And dare I say, it was (and still is) greatly loved.
Lastly, I LOVE The Iron Giant. I actually own the movie on DVD.
And… maybe I almost cry every time I watch… maybe…
I’m not confirmed that I do… I just love the movie, okay!
