If only we kept everything we had…
If you’re anything like me — and chances are you are if you’re here right now — you’ve spent part of your adulthood reacquiring the things you loved as a kid that fell by the wayside, intentionally or not.
If you’re in a fortunate position, you can score a lot of that stuff, but unless you’re independently wealthy, I don’t think it’s possible to obtain it all. (Not that you’d necessarily want to.)
I’m really happy with the collection I’ve put together over the years, but there are still some once-owned items that elude me that I’ve pretty much given up on.
One of them is this 1970s Batman towel poncho that I got through a catalogue — something cheesy like Harriet Carter — maybe around 1974 or 1975:
I loved that thing. Wore it every time I got out of the bath — even though the cape on the back was distinctly off-model:
There was a Superman one too, so I’ve always figured that the designers felt both capes needed a logo.
Anyway, the one above — which was not by Gianni Versace — is priced at around $250 on eBay, and, well no. Another one recently sold for about $180. Still no.
At least I just picked up this nifty new, retro Batman beach towel just in time for the end of the summer.
