Sebastian Fiumara’s Action Comics #1075 variant is a bold reminder of why the Man of Steel is still the greatest of them all…
This happens almost every year: One Superman cover rises among all the rest and takes its place among the greatest images of the Man of Steel.
Julian Totino Tedesco had a beauty in 2021. Dave Johnson killed it in 2022. In 2024, it’s Sebastian Fiumara’s variant for Action Comics #1075, which is out Wednesday.
Check it out all big-like:
It has everything. Epic scope, a sense of grandeur, a rich color palette, and a quality that evokes the Golden Age yet is timeless all the same. (The “aging” effect helps, too.)
This is spectacular work — and frame-worthy if you’re a devotee of the Last Son of Krypton.

Wow!….$6.99 cover price. How do kids afford that these days? The lack of trade really looks off/odd to me too.

Great image!
I appreciate Sebastian Fiumara trying something new with the light effects, as though it were a literal snapshot of a fast moving, descending Superman captured in time for a brief second. The blur and streak lines might have been enough, but he’s also trying to evoke the speed of light with those white Kirby Crackles.
If one eye sees it as an “ageing” effect, maybe it’s not totally successful, but that he wanted to deliver something beyond a pin-up is great.

IMHO this evokes the Superman #1 cover image but from a different perspective (and adding an eagle, and the right arm being raised versus the left).

This variant cover really captures everything that Superman as a character stands for.

I’d like this more if the colors popped!
