SUPERMAN LIVES! NICOLAS CAGE’s Man of Steel Lands at DC Comics in September

Kinda, sorta — but lots of fun!

I’m already on record that Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, is my fave current comics title. Pretty much because it’s soaked in the Silver and Bronze Ages and is a tremendous amount of fun.

Well you can add another reason: Come September, the title will get a special variant cover by Mora — featuring none other than diehard comics fan Nicolas Cage, famously the Superman who never was.

Take a look:

Now, don’t expect this in the story or anything; it’s just a gas, much like the Paul McCartney cover from December.

Anyway, how can you not love this — especially since Cage’s version of the Man of Steel, from Tim Burton’s never-filmed ’90s train wreck Superman Lives, has popped up elsewhere recently. (No, I’m not saying where. You’ll have to find that out on your own.)

Dig the official solicitation info, as well as the rest of the issue’s covers, released by DC on Tuesday:

Main cover by Mora. Hey, that looks like the Riddler’s got his jumpsuit on under there!
