Finally out Wednesday…
As I’ve written many times, I’ve long wanted to get my hands on a copy of 1942’s Batman #11, but that’s been based on the strength of Fred Ray and Jerry Robinson’s magnificent cover — the Joker’s first, in fact.
Thing is, I’ve never actually seen the inside of the issue, and chances are the same holds true for you since it will almost certainly be slabbed if you encounter it. (The stories have been reprinted, sure, but not all the other features, ads and whatnot.)

Four stand alone stories for a dime. Can only imagine kids devouring and savoring these back then. Far cry from today’s multi-title crossover plots that last for several months.

When I saw an ad for several Golden Age DC Comics in “All in Color for a Dime,” I realized most of the logos followed the same style. Now the Action Comics logo on today’s issues stands out for being in that style. By the way, given a choice between them as a young reader, I think I would pick Leading Comics with the Seven Soldiers of Victory.

I must admit. I read the Joker story and then skipped right to the Penguin story afterwards.
Will now have to go back and read the other two.

The book is great and while I love these facsimiles, I was surprised not to see any kind of disclaimer printed in this issue like DC has done previously especially after I read the listing of firework names in the ad. I’m not going to print the language here but I’m sure anyone who reads the listing will identify the name. If you somehow need a hint-10 of these are included in the package deal. I’m amazed that DC allow this to be reprinted without some kind of warning of disclaimer.
