EXCLUSIVE: Studio Chikara and Neal Adams’ family win Halloween — AGAIN!
Y’know what got a great response last Halloween? Studio Chikara‘s vinyl release of House of Terror, which mimicked Power Records’ 1975 A Story of Dracula, the Wolfman, and Frankenstein, complete with an expanded version of Neal Adams’ accompanying comic book.
The album sold out but it’s back for 2024 — billed as a 50th anniversary set, with the original Adams cover art, a reprint of the original black-and-white, 16-page comic, and a box of six crayons so you can color it yourself (or your kids can, if they insist).
Not only that, there are three groovy vinyl colors to choose from — gold, silver and appropriately queasy orange-and-green swirl.
“The number of requests for the same album featuring its original 1975 cover has been stunning — and who are we to say no?” said Studio Chikara’s Robert V. Conte. “Because YOU demanded it, Studio Chikara has gone back to press on the same disc but with Neal Adams’ first cover from 1975 (never before reprinted) and, for the first time, the original 16-page booklet will be printed in its original, black-and-white form.
“This allows collectors to see Neal’s art (assisted by Dick Giordano and Terry Austin) before it was colored and offers those with children an opportunity to share the experience by having them color the pages with a 6-count box of free crayons,” he added.
All three editions begin shipping Friday, Sept. 20, to keep up with the anticipated Halloween demand.
Each record sells for $34.99 and can be ordered directly from Studio Chikara. Click here.
