MYSTERY IN SPACE: A JOE GIELLA Birthday Tribute in 13 COVERS

The late inker was born 96 years ago, on June 27, 1928…

Joe Giella was one of the most prominent inkers of the Silver Age, a DC Comics stalwart best known for his work with the likes of Carmine Infantino and Gil Kane. Until his death in 2023, he was billed as the oldest living Batman artist but his career was well established before he ever set his pen in Gotham City, having slung ink on The Flash and Green Lantern, among others.

Among those others? Adam Strange in Mystery in Space.

So dig this far out 13 COVERS birthday tribute.

  1. I always liked Adam Strange and miss him. He was the Silver Age equivalent to Flash Gordon/ Bck Rogers in the costume/ raygun packpack arena. I really enjoyed Giella’s artwork. R.I.P. Joe.
