MAD MAGAZINE #15 Brings Back Classic Superhero Parodies

Bat Boy and Rubin in the house!

When DC recently put out its solicitations for August, this little gem hovered under the radar, so I figured it deserved some attention: Mad Magazine #15 — due Aug. 18 — is paying tribute to some of its best superhero satires.

Dig the official description:

A few thoughts:

— Gotta say, I dig the new version of Mad, which combines new and old features. In this case we get Wally Wood’s Bat Boy and Rubin from 1953 — memorably remade as a segment on Batman: The Brave and the Bold:

— Now, it’s not clear what other reprints will be included but the clues certainly point to 1979’s Supeduperman, based on that cover, and 1966’s parody of the Batman TV show, based on that vague reference in the solicitation blurb.

— What else? We shall see soon enough. Plus, keep an eye out for an upcoming SNEAK PEEK at Mad #14.

  1. I am a long-time Mad fan and subscriber, and I agree that the roughly 70/30 mix of old and new has been really enjoyable. Glad to see Mad find a way to stay around!
