MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
I’ve mentioned this before but when I was a kid, I wrote to DC Comics suggesting that Christopher Lee play Ra’s al Ghul (click here) and Caroline Munro play Talia (click here). Sadly, and to my eternal regret, that never happened.
I also wrote that Jack Nicholson should play the Joker. That, happily, did happen, so I take full credit. (Click here.)
But you wanna hear something weird? Here’s something weird:
I woke up from a night’s sleep with an epiphany that Game of Thrones vets and recently minted luvvahs Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Rose Leslie (wildling Ygritte) would make an awesome Nightwing and Batgirl.
Dream casting in the literal sense, I suppose.
He’s dark, she’s a ginger.
They have great chemistry.
They’re as cute as a couple of buttons.
In both cases, her character is smarter than his character.
They can act.
They can do action.
They can do action.
Hell, I have no idea if they can even drop their accents — though I’m betting they can, since it seems to be an innate talent among U.K. and Aussie actors. But if they can’t, they could move Gotham to Glasgow for all I care.
There are all sorts of unsubstantiated rumors that Nightwing and Batgirl will be popping up in the DC Cinematic Universe. I almost never trade in rumors but since this whole idea is an exercise in dream casting, I figure, why not just throw this out there and get a movement going.
So …
Dear Hollywood Casting Directors: Make this happen.
And, Dear Hollywood Script Writers: Make sure she gets to say, “You know nothing, Dick Grayson.”
