More Byrne from DC on the way — including Superman: The Earth Stealers…
DC’s got John Byrne on the brain these days — with two more hardcover collections by the modern master added to the company’s 2021 line-up.
Scheduled for June is Superman: The Man of Steel Vol. 3, followed in July by the Fourth World by John Byrne Omnibus (which you can click here to read about).
Here’s the official description of Man of Steel Vol. 3, according to a listing on Amazon:
John Byrne’s bold reinvention of the Superman mythos continues, in stories featuring Green Lantern, Brainiac, Booster Gold, Lex Luthor, and more!
Following Crisis on Infinite Earths, comic book superstar John Byrne reimagined Superman for a brand-new era, presenting a fresh take that brought the pop culture icon into the modern day. In this oversized hardcover collection, Byrne is joined by fellow acclaimed comic book veterans such as Arthur Adams, and Jerry Ordway, in stories including the Man of Steel against Toyman, Superman teaming with Green Lantern, and a day at the circus that turns into an encounter with Brainiac! Plus, Byrne teams with legendary Superman artist Curt Swan for the galaxy-faring Superman: The Earth Stealers!
This volume collects Superman #12-15, Adventures of Superman #436-438, Action Comics #594-597, Superman: The Earth Stealers #1, Action Comics Annual #1, Superman Annual #1, Adventures of Superman Annual #1, Booster Gold #23, and material from Who’s Who Update 1987 #5 and Who’s Who Update 1988 #2.

A few thoughts:
— Obviously, Byrne is not the only creator here. The volume includes material by Jerry Ordway, Curt Swan, Jim Starlin, Dan Jurgens and others.
— I’m not 100 percent sure but I think this is the first time Superman: The Earth Stealers has ever been reprinted. Feel free to correct me in the comments.
— The 464-page Vol. 3 lists for $49.99, according to Penguin Random House, which handles DC’s book market. For those keeping score at home, the first Man of Steel hardcover has already been released. Vol. 2 is now due in January. (Click here for more info on that edition.)
— Standard caveat: This has not been solicited by DC yet, so nothing is official until it’s official. Even then, things can change. Just keep coming to 13th Dimension for updates.

I’m truly happy that “Superman: The Earth Stealers” will be included in this third volume.

I enjoyed the JB retelling. It was different, but not so different to alienate older fans.
