HOUSE OF MYSTERY: DC to Release 1973’s Treasury Edition as a Facsimile in October

EXCLUSIVE! PLUS: Halloween horror also goes big for the W.I.P. edition of American Vampire #1…

DC has three Facsimile Editions in the hopper for October and each deserves its own spotlight. Click here and here for the other two.

Meanwhile — another month, another treasury edition! This time around it’s a Halloween treat with 1973’s Limited Collector’s Edition #C-23 Facsimile Edition: The House of Mystery.

And as a big ol’ horror bonus, there will be a W.I.P. edition of 2010’s American Vampire #1, written by Stephen King, Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque.

Dig the official solicitation info, which will be released officially by DC later Friday:

A few thoughts:

— Y’know, I’ve been so focused on the superhero treasuries, I wasn’t even thinking about House of Mystery. What a great choice! I don’t even have an original! And damn, that’s a lot of talent.

— This will be two straight months with treasury-size Facsimile Editions. In September, it’s New Fun #1 in Famous First Edition size. Treasuries have recently been an odd-numbered-month thing. Too early to tell if this is a significant shift.

— Obligatory Price Comparison: A VF/VF+ original Limited Collectors’ Edition #C-23 recently sold on eBay for $133. Generally, you can find it in lesser condition for about $30.

  1. I remember buying it when I’d bought and read everything else on the rack that week. It was great!
