The Amazing Spider-Man Epic Collection, Vol. 10: Big Apple Battleground, Marvel. Not only is this 500 pages of beautiful Ross Andru Spidey art, but that headshot of the Lizard on the cover is worth the price of admission all by itself.
Dan adds: A while back, I decided to read Amazing Spider-Man from the beginning, initially with the idea that I’d wrap at Issue #142, which was the end point of a collection of Spidey comics I had as a kid. I decided to keep going though, through the end of Ross Andru’s time on the book, and here we are: This volume finishes up with Peter’s college graduation, by Marv Wolfman, Andru and Mike Esposito. And with no Volumes 11-14 announced yet, I think this is where I call it a Spider-Day. Been a lot of fun. And I am digging the monthly Facsimile Editions, so there is that…

Jackpot/Black Cat #3, Marvel. I recently tracked down the first two Felicia/MJ team-up adventures, and gotta say, I really enjoyed them.

Avengers Annual #10 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. One of my favorite Avengers tales (tidying up the horrible injustice done to Carol Danvers in Avengers #200), under what is admittedly one of the least inspired covers.
Dan adds: I’ve always wanted to read this one, so I’m looking forward to picking it up.

Comic Book Implosion: Expanded Edition, TwoMorrows. A new, full-color version of one of the best comics history books of the last decade. This oral history of DC in the ’70s focusing on the DC Implosion is a legit page-turner. Essential reading and great to see the upgrade, with new bonus content. The book will be available at comics shops and other retailers within a couple weeks, but it begins shipping Wednesday directly from TwoMorrows. Click here to order.

Power Girl #9, DC. I don’t read the series but I love the old-school styling of this variant cover by David Talaski.

John Stewart Green Lantern Action Figure, McFarlane Toys. Hitting comics shops are some recent McFarlane releases, including this 7-inch-scale John Stewart, based on his first appearance in the O’Neil-Adams classic Green Lantern #87. There are precious few figures out there of this version of the character, so this is a must-buy.

The Spider-Man Epic covers issues #165 – #185. My personal run would have to cover at least up through issue #200 or so. (Just fyi for anyone looking to order it, Amazon doesn’t show it if you have #10 in the title.)
I’m definitely looking forward to reading the newly expanded edition of “The DC Implosion”.
