The Thing Omnibus, Marvel. Must be the holiday season because there are a whole bunch of bitchin’ (and expensive) collections this week. This one features the Thing’s entire 1980s 36-issue solo title, launched by John Byrne and Ron Wilson, as well as other tales, including Marvel Graphic Novel: The Incredible Hulk and the Thing — The Big Change, by Starlin and Wrightson.

Who’s Who Omnibus Vol. 2, DC. A big, fat hardcover that collects Who’s Who in the Legion of Super-Heroes #1-7, Who’s Who in the DC Universe #1-16, and Who’s Who in the DC Universe Update 1993 #1-2.

Pogo by Walt Kelly, Vol. 8: Hijinks From the Horn of Plenty, Fantagraphics. As regular as clockwork, just in time for Christmas we have another gorgeous hardcover collection of Walt Kelly’s legendary comic strip.

Monica Rambeau: Photon #1, Marvel. I love seeing the ’80s Captain Marvel back in the spotlight, but she’s never had a costume as good as her original Avengers uniform.

Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 24, Marvel. The debut run of the black Spider-Man costume! This was so exciting at the time. Especially that first eight months when readers had no idea where the suit came from.

Hey Dan,can’t express how much I love this site. Don’t read much new stuff these days but have been patiently waiting for the 2nd Starman compendium and was kinda surprised to see it was out this week! Is it finally gonna happen? Love your recollections of bronze age stuff. Remind me of being a kid and my dad bringing me home a couple of comics, after he’d been to the chippy for mum(I’m English btw)

Looks like the Starman compendium 2 has been resolicited again…I’ve already purchased the paperback omnibus volumes 1 and 2 and was really disappointed when my pre order didn’t arrive on Wednesday,especially as the hardback omnibus versions are prohibitively expensive. I was wondering if you have any idea if the 2nd compendium will ever make it to publication? And while I’m wishing,can I ask for an All Star Squadron omnibus and a bronze age Legion omnibus(Cockrum/Grell)
