HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. Easily one of the best Facsimile Editions to come our way simply because it’s one of the Silver Age’s greatest single issues. This is a Steve Ditko tour de force — maybe even his best Spidey issue overall — jammed with dramatic battles and glorious full-page illos. If you’ve never read it, now’s your chance for $7.99, ads and all. Hell, even J. Jonah Jameson would consider that cheap.

The Life & Art of Dave Cockrum, TwoMorrows. A superb, illustration-packed retrospective spotlighting the Bronze Age stalwart, by Glen Cadigan. (Click here for an EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW.)

Back Issue #137, TwoMorrows. Excellent, packed issue about pre-Crisis DC miniseries. (Click here for more info.)

The Sandman #1 Facsimile Edition, DC. Neil Gaiman’s magnum opus is burning up TV and here’s your little time capsule back to where it all began in 1988.

World of Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #122, Archie. A Summer Fun Special! Because there are still three weeks left before Labor Day! So grab all the summer fun you can!

Harley Quinn #20, DC. Ryan Sook at it again with a groovy homage cover. Batgirl’s debut in Detective Comics #359 gets the treatment this time.

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Walt Disney’s Uncle Scrooge Vol. 26: The Golden Nugget Boat, Fantagraphics. More Duck classics from the master Carl Barks, including the introduction of Magica de Spell!

Star Trek: The Mirror War #8, IDW Publishing. With Picard’s master plan on the verge of success, everything is at stake! The future of the Mirror Universe begins here! From David Tipton, Gavin Smith, and yours truly.

Doctor Doom: The Book of Doom Omnibus, Marvel. Hundreds of pages of the best Doctor Doom stories? Sold.

Marvel Masterworks: Captain America, Vol. 14, Marvel. The Stern and Byrne run on Cap is one of my favorite periods for the character. I wish they would have gotten another 30 or 40 issues.

  1. Wow… that Harley Quinn cover is absolutely atrocious. Couldn’t they have found an atrist who could at least mimic the line weights, etc. of Silver Age art? She looks like a Colorform stuck on the page.
