Green Lantern John Stewart: A Celebration of 50 Years, DC. I love DC’s big character-focused celebration hardcovers, and I’ve never read a lot of the early John Stewart comics, so I’m looking forward to this.

Marvel Masterworks: Uncanny X-Men Vol. 13, Marvel. I’m just gonna say it: It makes me feel old to see comic books I bought off the shelf reprinted in Marvel Masterworks.

DC Through the ’80s: The Experiments, DC. This collection of some of DC’s most innovative releases from the 1980s is worth buying just for the inclusion of the hard-to-find but gorgeous History of the DC Universe.

That “DC Through the ’80s” project fascinates me, mostly because I’m an ’80s kid at heart.

I have the first DC Through the 80’s book, and it’s awesome in it’s variety… a really diverse collection of stuff largely uncollected elsewhere.
This volume, though, has me a little disappointed in the amount of material that is perennially published in collected form. Watchmen, Swamp Thing, TDKR, Ronin, and Camelot 3000, while awesome, are easy to come by in collected editions still in print. I probably have 3 versions each of all of these.
I would much rather see a collection including “Mazing Man, Arak, Arion, Omega Men, Atari Force, Blue Devil, Sun Devils, Thriller, Captain Carrot, Spanner’s Galaxy, Sword of the Atom, Jemm Son of Saturn, Night Force, Hex, DC Challenge, Electric Warrior, etc. All of these were experimental, and haven’t received nearly enough exposure since they were published.
I do applaud them for showcasing Amethyst, Nathaniel Dusk, Ambush Bug and Angel Love, all of which deserve their own quality reprint editions.
