HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

The Green Lantern #8, DC. Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp pick up the Bronze Age baton and reunite Green Lantern and Green Arrow in this tribute to the classic work of Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams. Our Hard Travelin’ Heroes battle the scourge of space drugs and you can click here for a SNEAK PEEK.

Justice League #25, DC. The Justice League battles the Justice League of Tomorrow, Superman challenges the World Forger and Mr. Mxyzptlk is still causing trouble. This while Lex and the Legion of Doom lurk. Just another day at the office for the League, right? An oversized issue by Scott Snyder, Jorge Jimenez and co.

Bravo for Adventure, IDW. Ask an artist to list the artists who influenced them and Alex Toth’s name inevitably comes up. Just pointing that out. Anyway, his classic adventure series starring Jesse Bravo is collected in trade paperback for the first time. Includes all sorts of bonus material.

Black Cat #1, Marvel. Jed MacKay, Travel Foreman and crew give another life to Spidey’s feline fatale.

True Believers: Amazing Spider-Man #1, Marvel. I’ve been getting spoiled by the wave of facsimile editions that feature all the original ads and whatnot but let’s not forget these dandy dollar reprints that allow you to dive into the past on the cheap. Love ’em.

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Ignited #1, Humanoids. This new series from Mark Waid, Kwanza Osajyefo and Philippe Briones is the kickoff to Humanoids’ new connected universe of comics. I’m intrigued.

Captain America: Evolutions of a Living Legend, Marvel. Collected here are all the times Steve Rogers had been forced or felt compelled to change his uniform or identity. My personal favorite was “the Nomad.”

Savage Avengers #2, Marvel. Wait, Conan the Barbarian is an Avenger now?! How did I miss this? (By Gerry Duggan and Mike Deodato.)
