Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …
—
Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.
Betty & Veronica #2, Archie. Loving Adam Hughes’ new Betty & Veronica series, and this variant cover by my pal Rachael Stott is the icing on the cake.
—
Batman/TMNT Adventures #1, IDW Publishing. I’m such a sucker for anything Batman: The Animated Series-related, no way I’m passing this up. By Matthew K. Manning and Jon Sommariva.
—
Avengers #1.1, Marvel. Retro tales of Cap’s Kooky Quartet by Waid and Kitson? To quote Philip J. Fry, shut up and take my money.
—
Spider-Man/Deadpool #11, Marvel. Spidey and Deadpool swap partners with Penn & Teller, and hilarity ensues. Written by Penn Jillette himself!
—
Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension
The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #1, Marvel. Spidey legend Gerry Conway writes alt-universe Peter and Mary Jane, who are married with a daughter — and they all have powers. Art by Ryan Stegman.
—
Sugar & Spike: Metahuman Investigations TPB, DC. The grown-up Silver Age kiddies were the best part of the recent Legends of Tomorrow anthology series. Sugar and Spike are hired by DC’s A-List heroes to kick dirt over their more embarrassing episodes. (Just check out the cover.) The whole series, by Keith Giffen, Bilquis Evely and Ivan Plascencia, was chock full of Silver and Bronze Age Easter eggs.
—
Weird Love #15, Yoe Comics/IDW. Always. (Click here for a preview.)
—
Invincible Iron Man #1, Marvel. So much has been written about Ironheart Riri Williams (like here) already. Now we get to check out her actual adventures. By Brian Michael Bendis, Stefano Caselli and Marte Gracia
New Super-Man #5, DC. The Chinese Justice League battles the foe all Justice Leagues must: Starro! By Gene Luen Yang, Viktor Bogdanovic and Richard Friend.
